Description

Discover Ocmulgee at night following along the luminary path, stopping at designated points along the way. Held yearly during Macon's Cherry Blossom Festival, the Ocmulgee Lantern Tours are a family-favorite event. Grab a lantern and stroll along the luminary-lined path, from the Visitor Center to the Great Temple Mound. Join interpretive talks at the bridge, Earth Lodge, Trading Post, and Great Temple Mound sites. Step back in time to meet costumed characters with ties to Ocmulgee's rich 17,000 year history and learn about the people who once lived here. See Downtown Macon illuminated at night from the top of the Great Temple Mound. The guided tours are limited to 12 guests per tour, so we can maintain safe social distancing. The tours will last approximately one hour. These tours will take place rain or shine, so dress for the weather. The paths are uneven in places, so we suggest good walking shoes. This tour is wheelchair accessible except for the last stop at the Great Temple Mound, and there is some incline on the path leading to the Earth Lodge. Gates open at 7pm, and tours run every 15 minutes. $5 ages 5 and under free
