Description
PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Old Dominion Freight Line is opening a new regional service center in Phoenixville and is looking to hire more than two dozen people this spring.
A leading less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier, Old Dominion Freight Line will open its fifth service center in the Philadelphia metropolitan area to accommodate regional demand and anticipated growth. The center will function as a supply chain solution for when freight down not require a full-size trailer. LTL allows multiple shippers to share a trailer, as it functions in a "hub and spokes" model, an Old Dominion statement explained.
The center at 565 Hollow Road in Phoenixville is expected to open at some time in late April or early May. The 55-door facility will service Western Philadelphia, King of Prussia, and Valley Forge. It will be fully operational within 6-8 weeks, according to John Heid, spokesperson for Old Dominion.
With the opening of this new facility, Old Dominion is bringing 26 new jobs to the community, including pickup and delivery drivers, clerical staff, and dock workers, Heid said today.
