5 Sought For Center City Attempted Robbery Attack

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Police in Philadelphia are asking for help finding five people who attacked a man in mid February in Center City. The incident occurred at 7:53 p.m. on Feb. 16 on 16th Street between Chestnut and Market streets. A 45-year-old man was walking on 16th Street when five men came up behind him. One of the men struck the victim on the side of his head and the others began kicking and punching him, police said. They demanded the victim's cell phone and wallet but he refused, police said. The attackers then left without taking anything and were last seen going into the SEPTA underground station then getting off the Market-Frankford line at 40th and Market streets, police said. Police said the victim was taken to Presbyterian Hospital with cuts and swelling in his face. Below are suspect descriptions provided by police: Black male, heavy build, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt black pants with white stripes and white sneakers.Black male thin build, wearing a light color hooded sweatshirt black jacket with fur on the hood, blue jeans with rips on the front and blue or purple sneakers with orange laces.Black male, thin build wearing a black and white tie-dye hooded sweatshirt, black jacket, black pants and gray and white sneakers.Black male, thin build, wearing a light color hooded sweatshirt, black jacket with fur on the hood, light blue jeans and green and white sneakers.Black male, thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with multi-color "NASA" logo on the front multi-color band on the hood, black jacket with fur on the hood, black pants and blue and white sneakers.
