NEW BRITAIN, PA — The Central Bucks Regional Police Department is partnering with student groups from Central Bucks West to organize a food drive this weekend. Donations will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 6, at the Giant Food Store, 200 Town Center, New Britain. Central Bucks West student groups Feeding the Community and Brown Student Union are partnering with police to address food insecurity with families in the school district. All donations will benefit the Barclay Farmers Market, which takes place on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. Items needed include pasta, pasta sauce, canned tuna, canned chicken, rice, beans, peanut butter, jelly, canned vegetables, canned fruit, applesauce, cereals, oils, toiletries and diapers. Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimated that in 2020, more than 50 million Americans would not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.
