BIRMINGHAM, AL — The top-ranked Hoover High School girls basketball team captured the team's seventh state title Wednesday against Hewitt-Trussville, rolling to a 61-37 win in Bartow Arena.
Trailing early in the game, Hoover pulled away from the Huskies in the second quarter and never looked back. The Bucs went on an 11-0 run and an 8-0 run to widen the gap in the third. After Hewitt-Trussville's star Amiya Payne fouled out of the game, the Bucs sealed the win, outscoring HTHS 28-6 in the fourth quarter.
Reniya Kelly paced Hoover with 24 points.
