And They Have Their Loyal Customers to Thank Food is at the epicenter of almost everything. Celebrity chefs and up-and-coming stars dedicate entire television shows and YouTube series to trying new food. People travel to different states and countries just to try the local cuisine, or a new Michelin star restaurant. When people want to commemorate a significant milestone in their lives, they celebrate over food and drinks. And when people plan a first date with a love interest, it's usually at a restaurant. I could go on, but you get the point. Other than providing us with the nourishment we need to live, it's clear that food plays another significant role in our lives. Anywhere you go, you'll find a multitude of restaurants on every corner — sometimes cities even have entire blocks dedicated to their restaurant scenes. And it's not uncommon that a majority of these restaurants often serve the same type of cuisine as well. As you can imagine, this makes for a dog-eat-dog industry. So, how do restaurants stand out from the competition? You might think that serving exceptional food is the ticket to success, but this is only one piece of the puzzle. What truly sets restaurants apart is having the support of their community behind them. Restaurants that receive an outpouring of love from their community get noticed by food critics and editors; they get published in online outlets and become the recommended restaurant-of-choice for their area. It happens all the time. And recently, it's been happening a lot with Umi Sushi, a classic restaurant located in Buckhead that's renowned for their modern Japanese flavors. The sophisticated restaurant is becoming an Atlanta hot spot, and for good reason. Check out some of the recent press that's been written about them. Condé Nast Traveler The luxury and lifestyle travel magazine named Umi Sushi as one of the best restaurants in Atlanta late last year. They call it a 'see-and-be-scene' hot spot that serves clean, crisp seafood dishes from all over the world. They specifically reference their Nobu-inspired appetizer, which is thinly sliced yellowtail topped with jalapeños, cilantro, and ponzu sauce, as well as their amazing gin cocktail, Tomu Kat O. Eater Atlanta Eater Atlanta recently published an entire article about Umi Sushi's new elegant covered patio. What's so special about a covered patio, you might ask? Umi's patio was created as a way to keep diners safe during the pandemic, and it features an eight-foot bonsai tree that sits in the middle of a 40-seat, all-weather patio. You have to see the pictures for yourself. Thrillist Thrillist is a trusted source for food and activity recommendations for practically any location across the globe. They wrote an article titled Escape Atlanta Without Leaving Town By Visiting These 14 Places where they also dote over Umi Sushi's Bonsai Room. In the article, they recommend that Atlanta foodies visit the new patio, order their sushi (specifically their New Page roll), and pretend they're dining in Tokyo. The Infatuation The Infatuation, a 'best restaurant discovery platform', highlighted Umi Sushi as a must-see Buckhead restaurant. They compliment the restaurant, saying it's the best sushi that's available in the city. Impress a friend, impress a date, or celebrate a big event at — you can't go wrong at such an incredible place. Eater Atlanta Eater Atlanta wrote about Umi Sushi twice, with the second article talking about their killer desserts. Umi Sushi's pastry chef, Lisa Ito, gets a shout out for some of her most incredible creations, like her green tea soufflé with a matcha crème anglaise and her chocolate kyu. If you're in the Atlanta area, or plan to visit Atlanta in the near future, it's no question: check out Umi Sushi and enjoy one of the best meals of your life. It's an experience you'll never forget.
