I Trap Neuter and Release, TNR in Oceanside, Carlsbad and Vista for years.  I have a kitten, 2 regular size live and a drop trap I use.  I trap colonies one by one where there is a care-taker who feeds them everyday forFerels and stop the colony from reproducing.  I DO NOT REHOME CATS !
