Don’t miss the next virtual training being hosted by MAO Behavioral Health & Medical Advocacy and Outreach - The Impact of Racial Injustice on Mental Health. This four-hour training on Thursday, March 25, 2021 will bring care professionals together to dive into this timely subject impacting the well-being of everyone. At the conclusion, participants will be able to: - Provide an overview of the different aspects of racism that impact people of color in Alabama - Discuss the impact of racial injustice on people with substance use and mental health disorders - Explain evidence based practices that can be used when providing interventions to diverse communities of color - Increase cultural awareness and relational skills when delivering behavioral health services to communities of color VISIT MAOI.ORG/EVENTS for more details and to register. Panelists: Lucero Sitz-Middleton, Latinx Affairs Specialist, Medical Advocacy & Outreach; Jacob Jacob Buchanan-van Megen, Alabama AETC Training Specialist, Medical Advocacy & Outreach; Angela Stringfellow, MAOM, Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine; and Darren Helms, Examiner, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Contact Hours/Credit Statement (s): Social Workers: Medical Advocacy and Outreach (MAO) has been approved by the Alabama Board of Social Work Examiners as a provider of Continuing Education for social workers, Provider No. 0134. This activity has been approved for up to 4.0 contact hours (clinical) for social workers. Counselors: Medical Advocacy & Outreach (MAO) has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6882.
