Incentives offered for non-nicotine users. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Trainee is responsible to assist with the connection of pipes, grade and alignment on our jobs. We require that they be committed to the total Ajax team effort by contributing to the proper completion of the work as directed. RESPONSIBILITIES Note: The following duties are descriptive and not exhaustive. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. The Pipelayer Trainee must have the ability to learn the following duties: 1. Maintain consistent quality of pipe work and OSHA standards. 2. Maintain proper percentage of fall in storm and sewer lines. 3. Assure all joints are properly homed. 4. Knowledge of storm, storm structures, sewer and water. 5. Maintain cut off saw in safe operating condition. 6. Maintain a clean and safe excavated work area. 7. Must gain experience with transit laser and pipe laser. 8. Keep compaction personnel informed when handwork areas are ready for compaction. 9. Perform all functions as directed by foreman in conjunction with preparation, layout, cleaning, compaction, and finishing operations. SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL 1. Adhere to all rules listed in the Ajax employee handbook. 2. Insure all Ajax quality standards are met. 3. Insure adherence to all federal, state, local and Ajax Safety and Environmental Rules and Regulations. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Field Environment - Work is exposed to outdoor conditions, noise and heat. 2. Ability to work days, nights and weekends as required. ATTENDANCE AND RELIABILITY 1. Reporting to work on time, after lunch, and not leaving early unless authorized. 2. Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence. 3. Not abusing or taking advantage of personal days off. 4. Performing such other duties as may be required. CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS 1. Self-motivated 2. Ability to work well with subordinates, peers and supervisors 3. Ambitious PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical demands of the position includes: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, twisting, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking.
