Darla is a whole lotta dog, ready to give you a whole lotta love! She is a wonderful low-riding bully girl, about 4 or 5 years old. At adoption events Darla is the self proclaimed greeter of all people, flitting around each person like a chunky butterfly, jumping onto the shelves to choose yet another toy. She likes to run around with her toys in her mouth, and gather them together in her bed and kennel. This Chunkapottamus has no idea of personal space, and is looking for laps that are open 24/7. Our process: If you are interested in Darla or any of our adorable adoptables, please fill out an adoption application from our website. If we feel it's a good match, we can make plans for a meet and greet at one of our twice-monthly trips to Chesapeake, or you can schedule a visit at the shelter. Visits to the shelter are by appointment only, as we are a volunteer-run rescue organization. All PAWS dogs are spayed/neutered, and current on the vaccinations appropriate for their age. Those who are confirmed over 4 months old or older will have their rabies vaccinations. Age permitting, dogs/puppies are tested for heartworm. All are treated with flea/tick prevention and given internal parasite preventative on a regular basis. All are microchipped (for their safety and the adopter's peace of mind) as part of the adoption fee.
