Power Tool Service Technician I. Summary: The Service Technician will be working at a Makita Factory Service Center and will work closely with other technicians within the facility. The Service Technician will report directly to the Factory Service Manager. II. Job Summary: Under general supervision, following defined practices but exercising limited judgment provides quality service in a timely and accurate manner on tools, while maintaining safety standards at all times. III. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (and additional duties-as assigned) A. Embraces and promotes brand values while delivering customer care principals. B. Assists in maintaining appearance of facility in professional, clean, and organized manner, consistent with Makita’s brand image, on a daily basis. C. Read and understand repair procedures in Makita’s service manual. Maintain service manual in current status, work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. D. Ability to create, edit, and complete repair and sales invoices in the computer. Begin learning procedures for generating FSC reports. Prepare tools and part orders for shipment as required. E. Ability to assist in managing parts inventory accurately. Assist in physical inventory. F. Notify customers of repair estimates, completed repairs, and orders ready for pick up. G. Performs other duties as assigned by management. IV. Desired Applicant Qualities: A. A minimum of six months previous experience repairing electric tools and equipment. B. Good customer service skills and established rapport with Makita customers. C. Good knowledge of power tools and applications. D. Formal technical training from accredited schools, trade schools, seminars, or military. V. Qualifications: A. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma/GED required. A minimum of six months previous experience repairing electric tools and equipment. B. Language Skills: Ability to communicate with Makita customers and department staff. Ability to respond to technical inquiries. Bi-lingual Spanish preferred but not required. C. Reasoning Ability: Ability to diagnose tool problems and repair all non-stationary tools, including pneumatic products; learn repair and adjustment procedures for stationary tools; learn adjustments for gas powered products. Understands and utilizes all Makita test equipment. D. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills VI. Employment Requirements – must be at least 18 years of age at time of employment and be able to safely operate power equipment. VII.
