Drum Workshop • Sunday, March 21 • 4–6pm • $5 cover A journey into the Latin American drum culture and its fusion with African rhythms. We are going to present multiple rhythms with afro-Venezuelan native drums and combine them with the contemporary genres from all over Latin America. 2 hours of workshop hosted by 3 professional Latin drummers and Funkadelic Studios. Who are we? E.T.A.P.A (Escuela de Tambor Afrovenezolano y Percusión Afrolatina); translated: School of Afro-Venezuelan drums and Afro-Latin Percussion. Marcos Espinoza (@marcosafrocodigos) Willie Quintana (@el_willie_quintana) Roberto Verde (@robertoverdeg) We are going to introduce you to some rhythms which are: A) Sangueo (Carabobo), B) Borburata, C) San Millan, and D) Golpe de tambor de San Millan. We’ll then combine them with rhythms from Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Peru, among others. In this workshop you will play along with us, do exercises, and also have the opportunity to show us a rhythm from your country so we can fusion it. Let’s drum!
