Harvest your own fruits and vegetables and then learn to prepare syrups and shrubs from them! Shrubs and syrups have a long history of being a common method of preserving fruits and vegetables, but when at-home refrigeration became the norm, this method dropped off. Now they’re back with a vengeance adding a whole new world of flavor to cocktails and soft drinks. Join a member of the Gibbet Hill Farm team as they take you on a tour of the farm, to harvest your own fruits and vegetables. Then head back to the greenhouse, where Gibbet Hill Grill lead bartender, Amanda, will instruct participants on fruit and vegetable preparation and methods to create your own syrups and shrubs. Students will bring home their own shrubs to enjoy at a later date. Price per person includes a thoughtfully prepared, snack box of crudite, dips, and breads. The class will be held rain or shine on the farm. Please wear clothing appropriate for the weather, and wear shoes appropriate for the weather and sturdy enough for walking in and around the farm. Tools will be provided for hands-on activities, but please bring gloves that is your preference for garden work.
