Yard Worker labor/Loader Operator Evergreen Supply (Watsonville) STARTING Pay: $12-15/Hr DOE Part-time availability with full-time potential Overview: Evergreen Supply has been providing landscape materials to central Californians for over 40 years. We are a family owned company which emphasizes the importance of customer service and quality products. We are currently looking for a new team member as we go into our busy summer season. Training may be available to a qualified and motivated candidate. Looking for someone that has knowledge of or is interested in learning about soil, plants, landscape materials, heavy equipment operation, and hard work. Basic Qualifications: Experience in physically demanding labor in the outdoor environment is highly desired. Must have the ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds constantly throughout the workday and have ability to withstand exposure to extreme and variable weather conditions. Requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, in order to successfully be able to perform the required job duties. This position requires the possession of a valid California Driver's License. The successful candidate must pass the background check and pre-employment drug screen. Job Description Summary The selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers. Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task. Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to your manager. Maintain a good attitude and be able to appropriately and effectively communicate with other team members and managers. Follow directions for daily tasks and expectations for each specific project. Maintain cleanliness of all facilities and grounds. Safely operate various types of equipment such as front loader, forklift, screen plant, soil mix plant, and sweeper. Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies. When working with co-workers and others at the work site, constant eye contact will be maintained when backing, communicating using hand signals or other movements. Perform servicing and maintenance of equipment as trained and directed by management. Perform daily pre-and post- inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies. Perform general labor duties as assigned. Perform maintenance on equipment as needed. Perform other duties as assigned The ideal candidate must: Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical. Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document. Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times. Report to work at the designated start time. Be willing to work weekends Be able to work overtime when required. Be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required. Must have the ability to work without close supervision. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA. Be at least age 18 years of age due to the nature of the working environment. Education/Experience Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Previous related experience in landscape, agriculture, construction field, specifically with heavy equipment operation is preferred but not required. May train the right candidate. Hours: Part time with potential to go full time. MUST be able to work weekends and overtime as needed.
