Description

visit my website: nmorellimusic.com Playing drum set has been a passion of mine for 18 years. I’ve been an educator for the past 8, and mentored students anywhere between the ages of 4 and 65 years old. My priority as a drum teacher is to cultivate that spark and interest in music regardless of their age or ability level. I believe that the student succeeds when the lesson is engaging and motivates them to come back each week to learn more. With a minor in Jazz Studies from the University of Illinois, I have a background in Rock, Funk, Jazz, Blues and Latin styles. However, I strongly prioritize learning and playing along with music that YOU want to play. We will explore and establish your personal taste as a musician and help pave a path for the kind of drummer you want to be. For beginners, we will start with basic coordination, proper posture and stick technique/control. For more developed students, we will work on dynamics, improving time, improvisation, and advanced limb independence. No matter the student’s experience, I place an emphasis on learning how to play with ease, to not only prevent any injury in the future, but to allow the drummer to stay relaxed, and truly express their true potential on the instrument. I have a designated studio space at Fort Knox Studios with a full recording setup. This allows students to monitor their playing in great quality and even record themselves; very valuable tools for honing your skills as a player. I’ve studied with many of Chicago’s great drummers, including Bob Rummage at DePaul University, Joel Spencer at the University of Illinois, and Grammy winner Paul Wertico of the Pat Metheny group. I’ve also studied with Dave Elitch, a specialist in body mechanics as they relate to playing the drums. I would love to help you develop the practical skills needed to be a drummer, as well as guide you on your lifelong path to being a musician and creative performer. If interested, please contact me for details! COVID UPDATE: In-person lessons will be provided at a safe distance, and I will urge students to bring their own sticks to reduce any shared contact. All surfaces, door handles etc. are disinfected and cleaned between lessons. I also offer online remote lessons if you have the means to do so, just reach out for details! Can use Skype, Zoom, Google Meet. Name: Nick $50/hour lesson, $30/ ½ hour lesson
