Learn how to use LECA instead of soil. Have you ever struggled with overwatering? Have you fought the dreaded fungus gnat? If you answered yes, then this inorganic growing medium, LECA, is for you. This 30-minute talk will detail what LECA is (the acronym stands for lightweight expanded clay aggregate), how to use it, and the benefits of using this medium instead of soil. Our greenhouse team member, Heather, will demonstrate how to plant with LECA in a small glass vessel. Then we will set you loose to create your own! Our team will guide you as you choose from a variety of young houseplants and glassware (or you can bring your own glassware from home). How to Sign Up and Safety Precautions: Tickets are $10 per person to reserve your spot in class, and are non-refundable. Your pre-paid $10 will be credited to any plant or container purchases that day. Sign up for either the 10:30AM or 1:30PM session by calling the store at 603.436.2732 to reserve your spot. Class will be held in our heated greenhouse, and attendance will be limited to 10 people per session. Masks are required.
