DEDHAM, MA — Dedham's Select Board delved into the speeding issue that's plagued Greenlodge Street and voted to support a project that might slow drivers down. The board brainstormed options to curb speeding during its Feb. 25 meeting. Speed bumps were floated as one possible solution but Town Engineer Jason Mammone dismissed the suggestion, pointing out that the road is used by first responders as an emergency access route. The viable solution that the board came to, was the narrowing of the street by installing sidewalks to the east side of the road. The project could cost $84,000, Mammone estimated. Narrowing the road would force drivers to slow down and focus on staying in lane. Dedham's town-wide default speed limit is 25 mph.
