New Rochelle — New Rochelle Police have not yet identified the suspects or any potential intended victims of the Sunday afternoon shooting in the vicinity of Echo Avenue and Main Street. Investigators say a suspect arrested after being observed fleeing from the scene does not appear to have been involved in the shooting. Nasiem Lopez was apprehended shortly after officers responded to the report of shots fired. The 22-year-old was allegedly in possession of a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana possession. A second suspect was also detained at the scene, but later released. Investigators have now zeroed in on and are searching for two suspects, both said to be black males in their mid-20's. One of the unidentified assailants was wearing a gray jacket and an orange-hooded sweatshirt. The other unidentified suspect was wearing a blue-hooded sweatshirt. Both men are said to have fired handguns and then fled from Main Street via Echo Avenue. New Rochelle Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to call New Rochelle Police at 914-654-2300.
