HARLEM, NY — Residents of Upper Manhattan and the South Bronx who want to get the coronavirus vaccine can call into a new hotline launched by their representative in Congress. The hotline, bilingual in both English and Spanish, was launched this week by U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat, whose district covers Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood, and parts of the South Bronx. The purpose of the hotline is to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments at the Washington Heights Armory. It serves people over 65 who live in eligible ZIP codes (see below for the full list). The hotline number is 646-838-0319. It is available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. "We embrace all who have lost loved ones during these challenging times and must remain vigilant in our efforts to combat this virus for good," Espaillat said in a statement. If callers do not reach someone right away, they should call back, Espaillat's office said. To get a vaccine appointment through the hotline, residents must live in one of the following ZIP codes in Manhattan or the Bronx: 10026, 10027, 10029, 10030, 10031, 10032, 10033, 10034, 10035, 10037, 10039, 10040, 10451, 10452, 10453, 10454, 10455, 10456, 10459, 10460, 10461, 10462, 10463, 10464, 10465, 10472, 10473, and 10474. Most vaccine appointments at the armory are now reserved for residents of nearby neighborhoods, after THE CITY reported that out-of-towners were flocking to the site to get their own shots.
