Press release from Norwalk Public Library: March 2, 2021 The Norwalk Public Library is pleased to present another ArtScapades lecture on Zoom, African Art Migration: From The Tribe to Museum Walls, on Wednesday, March 3, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.ArtScapades will look at the influence of African art on Modern Artists in the West. This lecture will focus on artists who incorporated tribal influences into their bodies of work, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Amadeo Modigliani. ArtScapades concludes with a look at contemporary African artists whose works can be found in major museums around the world. For more information, visit Norwalkpl.org. The goal of ArtScapades is for you to develop the means to critique a work of art while learning art history and art appreciation. You will come away with, both, an understanding of these artists and their works, as well as the tools with which to effectively explore galleries and museums. Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman of ArtScapades began teaching art appreciation in 1998. They have presented at libraries and museums in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Florida.
