Description
CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to East Sugar Ball Road in Concord for a report of a basement fire on Monday.
Around 11:15 p.m., a resident reported a fire in a basement as well as downed wires outside, due to wind. Arriving firefighters found tree branches and wires down in the road before getting to the home in question. Command stated they were going to walk to the home and stretch a line, if needed, from a nearby fire hydrant.
Smoke was seen coming out of the basement of the home and other firefighters were requested to the home and city. Canterbury and Hooksett firefighters as well as Hopkinton EMTs were requested to the city for mutual aid, according to dispatch.
At just after 11:30 p.m., firefighters were able to get water into the basement to begin extinguishing the fire. By midnight, the fire was completely out with firefighters double-checking hot spots, according to dispatch. Command also requested Concord General Services to sand the road due to freezing water on the street.
