LEMONT, IL — A detached garage is a total loss after a fire early Tuesday, the Lemont Fire Protection District said. Crews responded to a structure fire in the 300 block of Freehauf Street at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday. When crews arrived, they found a small detached garage in the alleyway with "defensive fire conditions," the district said. Crews were able to contain the fire to the structure, although two exposed garages sustained minor damage. The fire was brought under control in 10 minutes, the district said. Crews remained at the scene for two more hours for overhaul. According to the district, no one was injured, and no cause has been established yet.
