MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Authorities are responding to a "medical emergency" on a freeway overpass over Highway 101 at Old Middlefield Way in Mountain View that closed traffic in both directions on Tuesday morning.
Northbound lanes remained blocked as of 7 p.m., according to 511, and two southbound lanes were closed.

Around 8:30 a.m., the Mountain View Police Department tweeted that officers were responding to the situation. Crisis negotiators arrived on scene a half hour later and the California Highway Patrol took the lead around 10 a.m., "given the location of this incident."
Drivers were being diverted off Highway 101 at Old Middlefield Way, according to the Mountain View police.
In response to a Twitter user who asked, "Did they jump yet?" the department replied: "We hope that doesn't happen. We're doing everything we can to resolve this safely."
