A service of Evensong, somewhat quieter in this season of Lent, featuring Gregorian chant and music by Rorem, Walmisley, and Sumsion.
Dear friends,
This weekend includes two opportunities to worship in-person as a Calvary family: 10a Morning Prayer (nave) and 5:00 Evensong(nave), only one spot needs to be reserved per household. Reserve your spot here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0f4eacae29a4fb6-return
We will also live stream Eucharist and Evensong on the Calvary Episcopal Church Facebook page and the Calvary website.
This Evensong will be offered by singers Zeynep Miles, Sam Powell, Joseph Powell, and Nick Nesmith, and accompanied by Dr. Brian Campbell, Director of Music & Organist at St. John's Episcopal, Memphis. Brian will be joining the Calvary staff as Assistant Organist, officially beginning on May 1. We are delighted he will be with us this Sunday evening.
“Choral Evensong is a 45-min long peace-inducing church service in which the ‘song’ of voices sounding together in harmony is heard at the ‘even’ point between the active day and restful night, allowing listeners time for restful contemplation–church members, agnostics and atheists alike.” (from choralevensong.org)
On weekdays, we use Facebook Live so that you can pray Morning Prayer at 6:30 a.m., 8:00 a.m. and Compline at 8:00 p.m. with us.
