Press release from Alameda County Board of Supervisors, District 1: March 2, 2021 Mr. Forbes, Founder and Executive Director of One Dream Nation, received an award from the Alameda County Board of Supervisors for his dedication, commitment to providing food, faith, and respect to our community. "I am very pleased to have been able to honor Mr.Ronald Forbes for all of his efforts of collecting food and delivering it to those in need, not just in my District but all over Alameda County," said Supervisor David Haubert. Ronald Forbes is the Founder and Executive Director of One Nation Dream Makers, a non-profit organization designed to serve food to impoverished families with food insecurities. Mr. Forbes's commitment to delivering thousands of boxes of fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy to families in six weeks, is truly remarkable. One Nation Dream Makers impressively collects, organizes, stores, and delivers food. Mr. Forbes received this award because of his remarkable contribution to the Alameda County community. "I met Mr. Forbes twice, once at Livermore Veterans Event in 2019 with the former Mayor John Marchand, and secondly I was re-introduced to Mr. Forbes at a Food Distribution Event in Fremont called "Farmers to Families" where several agencies come together to deliver boxes of food for families in need." Supervisor Haubert explained. Mr. Forbes is a highly honored Veteran of the United States Army. After serving his country, Mr.Forbes struggled with PTSD, drug addiction, homelessness, and incarceration. He is going to celebrate six years of sobriety on July 4, 2021. Mr. Forbes is a resident of Livermore, and graduated from the Alameda County Sheriff's program, Operation My Home Town. Mr. Forbes also participated in Operation Dignity, a national Veterans homelessness program, and was recently highlighted and recognized for an outstanding character in the National Re-Entry Resource Center. Mr. Forbes is also the Senior Vice Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Legion Hall Post 7265 in Livermore, California. Mr. Forbes explains why this non-profit is so important to him, "My biggest motivation in doing what I do every day is that I once was homeless, which pushes me to help families in need with food insecurities. My mission is to give food to all the families in need, but I have to have a team to do it; Supervisor David Haubert got ahold of me, and we came together to do things in Alameda County and abroad to deliver food to families in need." Mr. Forbes continued, "I served my country, and now it is my time to serve my community."
