Hello - This is a PAID gig ranging from 100 - 150 per show for each member. Currently looking to expand a horns section in an established cover / original band. Seeking raw talent, dedication, a good ear and willingness to learn. The band is a Motown Dance, Neo-soul, R&B, & traditional blues band that plays popular pieces from artists like D'Angelo, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Paolo Nutini, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Earth Wind & Fire, B.B. King and a whole host of original music. The music is only intermediately harmonically complex, certainly not at the level of jazz fusion, but Horns should have a good understanding of the major and minor pentatonic scales as there is a lot of freedom to solo - anything further than that is an added bonus. Your role is what you make of it in this band. The band currently consists of two guitar players, a dedicated male singer, a female backing vox, a bass player, drums and saxophone. All the band members are from Boston and are in their late 20s / early 30s with professional careers outside of music. All the band members also have college music experience ranging from jazz performance, vocal studies and sound engineering. Though we do play traditional bar/venue gigs, we are looking to expand our festival portfolio for 2021 due to the pandemic. Regardless of skill level, looking for dedicated musicians who want to show up to practice and learn. Practice is usually on Sunday afternoons and takes place at a studio in Milton, MA. The majority of the band members are from Downtown Boston and Allston, and we make the 15 minute drive every Sunday. Horns are not required to attend every rehearsal. No age requirement - great opportunity for a young person to hone their chops or for an experience vet to add some two cents. Please reach out if interested. Thank you.
