CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — A Fairfax Elementary staffer tested positive for COVID-19 this week, the Heights Schools announced.
The employee was last in the school building on Feb. 23. Crews cleaned and disinfected a classroom the staffer was in. The staffer is now resting at home, district officials said.
School district officials have reached out to anyone who came into contact with the staffer.
One student has also tested positive for COVID-19 between Feb. 22 and March 1, according to the Heights Schools COVID-19 dashboard.
While Heights Schools staffers have received the first part of the COVID-19 vaccine, the virus continues to spread in the community, district officials said. To stymie spread in the schools, Heights residents are asked to observe the following health protocols:
Wearing a face maskSocial distancing of at least 6 feetFrequent hand washing with soap and waterHand sanitizing when soap and water are not availableStaying home when you do not feel wellDisinfecting high-touch surfaces regularlyNot sharing food, drinks, cups and utensilsAvoiding large gatherings of 10 or more people
