'Aggressive Recruitment Blitz' Begins At Cobb Sheriff's Office

COBB COUNTY, GA — The Cobb County Sheriff's Office is seeking to fill more than 100 vacant positions in the department. Cobb Sheriff Craig Owens said Monday he launched "an aggressive recruitment blitz" to fill the positions, the Marietta Daily Journal reported. Of the 100 open spots, 69 positions are open for deputy sheriffs, 23 for civilian positions, seven for detention center staff and six for part-time civilian roles. Full-time deputy sheriff roles start at $46,000 annually, depending on prior experience, according to a news release. Deputy sheriff positions also include bonuses for completion of training programs and a 12-month probationary period. Additionally, salary increases are also available based on educational attainment. For example, those who earn a bachelor's degree can receive an additional $2,000 per year.
