Learn about Baltimore City invasives and Spring gardening in this hands-on workshop where you'll get to practice what you learn!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been stuck indoors for way too long. Join Parks & People Foundation as we start our community garden for Spring and Summer. We’ll be preparing garden beds, planting seeds, removing invasive plants, and having fun!
Who can come?
This event is open to all high-school students, so bring a friend to make it even more fun!
Why should I come?
All students who participate will receive service learning hours for their time as well as gain experience with gardening and invasive removal. Those who attend multiple events will also receive priority placement in our YouthWorks Summer Jobs Program! These events, workshops, and activities are also great opportunities to include on your resume.
What will I be doing?
Removing weeds and past season crops from garden beds using shovels, rakes, and hand tools
Planting Spring herbs, vegetables, and companion plants
Removing invasive plants such as vines and thistle from the garden and the campus meadow
COVID-19 Safety Procedures
All participants will be required to wear a mask that covers their mouth and their nose at all times. Upon arrival, if participants do not have a mask, they will be provided with one. There will also be sanitizing and hand washing stations and at least 6-feet of spacing between participants at all times during volunteering.
