MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — As Patch does every month, Mountain Brook Patch readers' questions about the city were relayed to city manager Sam Gaston, and he was able to shed light on multiple issues brought up by readers this month. Issues this month include concerns over the next phase of the Lane Parke development, dog waste at Crestline Elementary School field and the sidewalk project on Hagood Street. What is the status of the sidewalk project on Hagood Street? Hope to start this summer. Delay has been on the Birmingham side due to three small parcels of right-of-way they have to purchase . How long is the next phase of the Lane Parke project going to last, and what kind of traffic issues will it cause? It will take 14 months per the owner. I don't expect a major impact on traffic in the village, but I am certain there will be some times of inconvenience to motorists. Can we do something about all the dog poop on the school fields? Crestline especially! Crestline School has started to lock the gates around the field during school hours except for 1-2 gates. We open the gates after school is out and on the weekend. Recreational improvements are planned for Crestline Field and we are trying to determine if a dog park area can be located here, if there is enough room. Also, pet owners should pay close attention to their dogs and pick-up waste immediately. The City has installed doggie bag dispensers and garbage cans at each park and playing field in the city for use by dog owners. Look for the next Neighbor Post for a call out for questions for Sam Gaston, or feel free to email questions to [email protected].
