Volunteers Needed for Mock Jury

We are seeking volunteers for a mock jury that will take place on March 6, 2021, from 2:00 until about 3:30 pm. This is a case the plaintiff calls “driving while Black” and the police defendants call “reasonable suspicion of unlawful activity.” The plaintiff has prevailed on liability, but he was only briefly detained, and we wish to assess the monetary value of the claim in the eyes of local jurors. We will hold the focus group using Zoom. Anyone can be a juror. We will set forth the plaintiff’s and defendants’ cases, then have the jurors discuss as they see fit (counsel will moderate but not participate in the discussion). Each juror will then present a statement of value. The amounts can differ, as jurors see fit. We will ask each juror to provide, on a voluntary basis, some information about himself or herself.
