Description
- Interested in putting together a group
- Must have time to practice at least once a week w/group. Practice on your own as needed.
- Must be older (I'm 48) and have some musical experience, but by no means do you have to be a pro- I'm not.
- Theme is rock and pop / R&B and even pop country covers with a twist (80s-2000s) I'm Gen X- you should be too.
- If we get a good crew together, shows are the eventual plan
- Idea is community based and outreach. Goal is for our music (and our performances / the way we do it) to connect people. We need people of all ethnicities.......this is San Antonio. We need to be San Antonio.
I play guitar......ok. I sing....ok. But I am very creative and innovative (I'd like to think so anyway)
I want to build to having a show where we can involve the audience in a fun way. Get people on stage and mess with them a bit and see if they can do something simple in a real song, and not always singing. Ex: Lots of songs have a one note intro or something simple on guitar or keyboard. Part of the show is showing them how to do it (embarrassing them and messing with them along the way) and add audience members as a panel / judge.
We'd start with people we knew and could control--like a backyard party. When we get better (as a group and find what works and what doesn't) maybe we play a venue. I'm not opposed to our shows having a message / theme of community and unity---but it's not a kum -by-yah affair, I will say some provocative things- and I want all of us to be on the same page. And yes-we should have family oriented AND adult themed shows.
So, if you were in the choir in high school, played drums in a band 20 years ago or just want to kick the dust off that old guitar/piano and have some fun with music again while maybe building something larger than yourself, well.......
I'm Jason.
