Bass player, or rhythm guitarist, available for original heavy riffing

I can play bass, or rhythm guitar, just getting back into playing after several years off. I grew up on 80's metal to give you an idea of my age. I like bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Mastodon, Anthrax, Pantera, etc but I don't want to sound like any one of them in particular. I'd like to play originals. I know original music is not that easy, especially if you don't want to sound like any existing band, but I'd like to give it a try. Of course we all have our influences and that will be incorporated into the sound but if we can put a different spin on it and sound good that would be cool. I just don't want to play covers. I'd like to stay local so if you're over 10 miles away (30 minute + drive away including traffic) it probably wouldn't work out. Weekly jam, and when ready gig out once a month. I'm not in it for the money, or fame and glory, but for the pure love of playing music as a creative outlet and would like to meet others who are on the same page. Mssg me if interested.
