Litter-Robot's patented sifting process separates the waste from the clean litter, depositing it into a drawer below for easy disposal, leaving a clean bed of litter for the next use. Honestly, this thing changed my life. We have 3 cats so we previously had to have 2 litter boxes and were scooping A LOT of cat poop. With the Litter Robot there is NO SCOOPING, just open the drawer, take out the full bag and replace it twice a week. With one cat, it's only once a week. What a revelation! This model works best for small and medium sized cats. My 20 pound cat was able to use it, but ultimately her size was why we ended up buying the Litter Robot 3, which has a larger opening, thus better for large aka fat cats. This unit is in good working condition. I have cleaned and disinfected it thoroughly, but let's face it, its a litter box, so its never going to be pristine again. There is some oxidation of the black plastic and the "bubble" window at the back is cloudy (this bubble by the way, is an extra feature that allows cats up to about 16 pounds more room to move around) and there is some scraping to the outside of the globe, due to the way it turns on its track to sift the litter.
