SALEM, MA — A 20-year-old Salem man was charged Monday in connection with damage reportedly caused by BB gun pellets near the Highland Avenue Walmart on Sunday morning. Police said Jesus Padilla, 20, was charged with vandalism of property, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and trespassing on Monday. Police were called to the Walmart late Sunday morning for a report of a man seen running in the woods behind the store with a rifle. A witness told police told the windows of a backhoe loader behind the store were shattered. Police said an investigation showed an air rifle that shot BBs was likely the cause of the damage. Police said there were no threats made to the public or the witness.
