Pleasant Street MBTA Green Line Station Has Closed Permanently

BROOKLINE, MA — The MBTA's Green Line B train will no longer stop at Pleasant Street. The station closed for good Friday night as part of an $8 billion Green Line renovation project. The MBTA said earlier this month that it had planned to downsize four B train stations into two stations, turning Babcock Street and Pleasant Street stations into a single station at Babcock Street. St. Paul Street and BU West stations are set to become the Amory Street Station between the two. The B line is notorious for its slowness, in part because of its many stops along Commonwealth Avenue. It's so slow there have been several road races set up pitting runners against the B Line to see who can make it from Chestnut Hill to Kenmore Square faster. There have been several runners who can, indeed, beat the T. Service between Babcock Street and Kenmore stations will be shut down for most weeknights and weekends, replaced by shuttle buses with stops at Route 57 bus stops. You can see the latest information here. The new stops will be fully accessible, have longer, 225-foot platforms and feature fencing between the platform and road.
