Description
Join these living systems pioneers for a very special 3-day transformational experience in the remote Anza-Borrego Desert. With Joel Glanzberg and Dr. Tamsin Woolley-Barker Join these living systems pioneers for a very special 3-day transformational experience in the remote Anza-Borrego Desert, 2 hours East of San Diego. As we emerge from a long year of dormancy, this 86-acre unique canyon ecotone offers a stark example of the resilience and adaptability possessed by living things. How do they persist from one season and generation to the next? What are the deep patterns that connect them to this place, one another, and to us? Participants become attuned to the way life actually works and begin consciously applying this living lens and evolutionary process to their endeavors––aligning with natural flows to realize greater adaptability, resilience, and thriving in increasingly larger spheres. Mornings and late afternoons are spent mostly outside, discovering the way life works––uncovering ecological patterns and evolutionary processes, tracking the many stories of this place, becoming attuned through guided walks and reflection. The heat of the day offers a siesta for focused personal work through provocations sourced from regenerative design frameworks. Evening finds us beneath the stars in this International Dark Sky Community, integrating the day’s insights around the campfire with music, mythic storytelling, food and cheer. It’s good to come together after our long separation. Cost: $2500 per person, meals included. Lodging: We recommend camping! Bring a tent, mat, sleeping bag, and camp chair, or we are happy to provide them for you and even get you set up! If this is not to your liking, there are several options for excellent accommodations within an easy 10 minute drive. We will be following all COVID-19 guidelines. ------------------------------------ Joel Glanzberg is a tracker, a regenerative design practitioner and 30 year veteran permaculture designer based in New Mexico. Joel is a founding partner of Regenesis Group – a regenerative design practitioner collective rethinking the way humans inhabit the earth. Here is an introduction their work. The off-shoot endeavor Regenesis Institute provides foundational training in regenerative thinking and practice through The Regenerative Practitioner Series. Joel co-founded Flowering Tree Permaculture in the high desert of New Mexico, transforming arid landscapes into food forests. You can watch a short film here about it. You can find Joel at Pattern Mind. Tamsin is the author of TEEMING: How Superorganisms Work to Build Infinite Wealth in a Finite World, an Amazon Bestseller in Organizational Learning and Environmental Economics, as well as Ecology and Animal Behavior—testament to the lively ecotones she inhabits. Tamsin is an evolutionary biologist, population geneticist, bioanthropologist, and naturalist dedicated to understanding the nature of living things, particularly humans. What kind of animal are we? This question has taken her from the California coast to the Hawaiian backcountry, Galapagos islands and Amazon headwaters––even working as a marine mammal biologist, the only woman aboard a crab boat in the Bering Sea. Her tent in the African Rift Valley—cradle of humanity—was a luxury upgrade. Dr. Tamsin’s study of baboon social structure and speciation was the longest and most extensive genetic study of any wild primate—a perfect model for human origins and social dynamics––and is still widely cited today. Today Tamsin works to spread a fundamental shift in the way people understand the world and therefore design for it—from mechanistic efficiency-driven design to evolutionary thinking in all human endeavors. Her company TEEM Innovation Group offers evolution-sourced organizational design and strategy for companies. She is the Dean of Geoversity’s School of Biocultural Leadership in Panama, and founder of the Borrego Institute for Living Design (the BILD), providing experiential immersions for the leaders of tomorrow. Her Bonobo Revolution initiative spotlights equitable inclusion for diverse voices, particularly women and girls—because humanity’s collective intelligence and future thriving depends on it. Her forthcoming books include Underneath with Chris Lopez––a mythic tale of falling in love with our world—and The TEEMING Transformation: How Nature’s Oldest Teams Adapt and Thrive.
