HAMDEN, CT — Alltown Fresh was robbed at gunpoint during the overnight hours Monday in Hamden, according to police. Police responded to the convenience store at 1941 Dixwell Ave. around 3:15 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery, according to police Capt. Ronald Smith. Smith said the robber entered the store and approached the clerk. He pointed a gun at the clerk and pulled the trigger, but the gun didn't fire, according to Smith. The clerk gave the cash register drawer to the gunman, Smith said. The robber was described as a middle-age white man standing 5 feet, 10 inches, and weighing around 200 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue-and-white-striped Adidas jacket and gray sweatpants, according to Smith. He left in a newer model, red Chevrolet sedan that had four doors and headed north on Dixwell Avenue, Smith said.
