SUMMIT, NJ — The next Summit Common Council meeting will be held on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Members of the council, Mayor Nora Radest, and city staff will be participating electronically. Members of the public can also comment by video or audio (see links below). Comments are also accepted by email or by mail to [email protected] by noon Tuesday. Among the items this week: Award presentation to the Summit Volunteer of the Year, Rev. Dr. Denison D. Harrield. The council will vote on a resolution to appoint an existing police officer to serve as a Humane Law Enforcement Officer (HLEO). Under state law, each police department must designate a HLEO to investigate suspected animal cruelty. The council will consider a resolution to approve submission of NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety Distracted Driving Statewide Crackdown grant to reimburse up to $9,000 of overtime enforcement during the month of April. The council will hear a resolution to declare a vacancy for a police officer. To view the agenda, click here.
