CHICAGO RIDGE, IL — Police responded to Chicago Ridge Mall for possible shots being fired Monday afternoon. Around 3:30 p.m. someone reported hearing gunfire inside the mall at 95th Street and Ridgeland Avenue. Officers were able to determine that two groups were involved in a yelling match outside the Foot Locker store. During the argument, police said both groups pointed guns at each other, but no shots were fired. Both groups scattered when police arrived and left the mall property. No one was hurt. Some shoppers told Patch they were not allowed to leave stores while police searched the mall for shell casings and those involved in the yelling match. The parking lot was full and the mall was not closed. Chicago Ridge police released a statement on Facebook that order had been restored and the mall remained open for business.
