NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt. ARRESTSDRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE John M. Zsitek, 59, of the 1900 block of Chestnut Avenue, Glenview, is accused of driving under the influence, improper lane usage, and was arrested at 11:42 p.m. Feb. 24 at Sherer and Techny roads. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond and assigned a court date of April 13. Frozen Pipes Leads To Dispute Between Plumbers In Northbrook INCIDENTSBURGLARY Officers responded to a burglary alarm at 1:28 p.m. Feb. 18 at Dehne Lawn & Leisure, 1900 block of Techny Road. Upon arrival, they found a broken showroom glass window. Officers searched the building and did not locate anyone inside. The business owner stated that it did not appear as though anything had been taken. IDENTITY THEFT Officers took a number of complaints from residents receiving notice that their information had been used fraudulently without their knowledge to apply for unemployment benefits. SUSPICIOUS ITEM An employee at Goodwill, 4100 block of Dundee Road, reported at 4:07 p.m. Feb. 20 that they located a plastic bag in the donation box that contained small bags with a rock like substance. THEFT A resident in the 1500 block of Maple Avenue called police at 6:27 p.m. Feb. 21 to report that someone took a flag from their property during the overnight hours.A resident in the 1100 block of Donegal Lane reported at 11:44 a.m. Feb. 23 that they found multiple items missing from a family member's residence. NEIGHBOR DISPUTE A resident in the 900 block of Meadow reported at 3:11 p.m. Feb. 21 that their neighbor keeps piling up snow on the fence, and the complainant believes this may cause the fence to break. RETAIL THEFT An employee at the T-Mobile store, 100 block of Skokie Boulevard, called police at 5:25 p.m. Feb. 22 to report that a man and woman entered the store and removed one pair of Beats headphones from the store without paying for the item. An employee at Best Buy, 1000 block of Willow Road, reported at 3:52 p.m. Feb. 23 that a male and female were seen placing computer gaming items in a large purse, then leaving the store without paying for the items. DISTURBANCE An employee at Sheraton Chicago, 1100 block of Willow Road, called police at 6:51 p.m. Feb. 22 to report a patron refused to cooperate with hotel staff by becoming verbally abusive.
