LIVERMORE, CA — Smoke hung over Tri-Valley Monday morning as firefighters battled a blaze at a commercial Livermore building.
No injuries have been reported.
The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded to 2080 Railroad Avenue — the former site of Livermore Pool and Spa — around 6:30 a.m. Railroad Avenue was temporarily closed between Livermore Avenue and L Street during the firefight.
Firefighters arrived to find the building was well-involved in the fire, said Deputy Fire Chief Joe Testa. There was nobody inside the boarded-up building, so firefighters began to fight the fire from the outside, Testa said.
The fire was controlled in about an hour. A total of 10 fire engines and 35 firefighters battled the blaze, including some from the Alameda County Fire Department, he said.
The roof collapsed and the building appears to be a total loss.
The fire's cause and origin remain under investigation by LPFD and the Livermore Police Department.
