ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a pistol, shoplifting, drugs, DUI, a gift card scam, a stolen car and driving violations. Here is information from the reports: Pistol found Jesse M. Greene, 22, of Chicago, was cited shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday at Poplar and Huntington on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and speeding. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, Greene was found in possession of a pistol. He did not have a concealed carry license. Shoplifting Deonta Payne, 27, of Chicago, was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mariano's, 678 N. York, on charges of burglary, retail theft, resisting a police officer and battery. He was released on bond. According to a police report, a man and a woman concealed several bottles of alcohol at Mariano's and stole them. An employee lost sight of the woman, but after a foot pursuit, officers captured Payne. The woman at large was described as black, 5 feet, 5 inches, heavy set and having long black hair. Trespassing Antonio E. Collins, 25, of Calumet City, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Sunday at North and Route 83 on charges of criminal trespass to a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver. He was released on bond. According to a police report, Collins was found to be in possession of a car stolen in Chicago. Stolen car An officer saw a car that had been reported stolen about 1 a.m. Saturday at Butterfield and York. The officer stopped the driver and placed the suspect under arrest. The person was taken to the police station and interviewed by Bolingbrook detectives. Gift card scam A resident in the 800 block of South Spring Road received a phone call from a person purporting to be with Norton Security on Wednesday. The victim allowed the person remote access to his computer. The person then requested the victim buy gift cards. The resident complied and provided the person with the gift card numbers. The resident notified police of the scam the next day. Drugs Dakari R. Davis, 20, of Chicago, was cited at 10 p.m. Saturday at North and Route 83 on charges of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, no valid driver's license, speeding and operating a motor vehicle while using a cell phone. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, Davis was found to be in possession of eight pills of Xanax and an ounce of marijuana. In the same stop, Marcel D. Cooper, 21, of Chicago, was cited on a charge of possession of marijuana by a passenger. He was released on bond. Deshanna R. Neal, 22, of Chicago, was cited shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday at York and North on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license and disobeying a traffic control device. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, Neal was in possession of a white pill that tested positive for ecstasy. Sebastian Lara, 20, of Mundelein, was cited about 9 p.m. Saturday at Elmhurst University, 190 Prospect Ave., on a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana by a person under 21. He was released on bond. According to a police report, an officer responded to a report of marijuana, which a security officers found in a dorm room. DUI Devonte J. Knight, 19, of Chicago, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Butterfield and Commonwealth on charges of DUI (drugs), possession of marijuana by a driver, speeding, improper lane usage, failure to signal and improper lighting. He was released on bond. Rafael I. Martinez Martin, 39, of Chicago, was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of North York on charges of aggravated DUI, aggravated driving with a revoked license, improper lighting, illegal transportation of open alcohol and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Geovanni R. Rivera, 29, of Northlake, was cited arrested 2:30 a.m. Monday at Grand and Wilson on charges of DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage and improper lighting. He was released on bond. Driving violations Victor Cortes, 43, of Chicago, was cited about 1 p.m. Thursday at York and Meister on charges of no valid driver's license, disobeying a traffic control device and unlawful possession of a marijuana by a driver. He was released on bond. Gildardo Cruz-Cordero, 44, of Chicago, was cited about 7:30 p.m. Thursday at North and York on charges of driving with a revoked license and driving a car with a video device. He was released on bond. Monica Dominguez, 37, of Wood Dale, was cited about 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of North York on charges of no valid driver's license and speeding. She was released on bond. Asia M. Byrd, 18, of Villa Park, was cited about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at North and Route 83 on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana under the age of 21 and possession of drug paraphernalia under the age of 21. In the same stop, Taja P. Garcia, 18, of Glendale Heights, was cited on charges of possession of marijuana under the age of 21 and failure to wear a seat belt. They were released on bond. Rajae D. Moore, 23, of Glen Ellyn, was cited about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Poplar and St. Charles on charges of no valid driver's license and speeding. In the same stop, DeMichael D. Richardson, 25, of Bellwood, was arrested on a Bellwood Police Department warrant and a charge of possession of marijuana by a passenger. They were released on bond. Gustavo Garcia Cortez, 18, of Glen Ellyn, was cited about 7:30 p.m. Friday at Route 83 and North on charges of no valid driver's license and improper lighting. He was released on bond.
