DAKOTA COUNTY, MN—The vaccine rollout in Dakota County, as with much of the country, has faced its fair share of hurdles that have left residents feeling frustrated. Still, more and more people are getting shots daily and the county has been averaging giving about 2,317.6 shots per day on average, according to the Minnesota Department of Health. MPR reported that in order to get 80 percent of adults in the state vaccinated by this summer, Minnesota would have to up their daily shots by 40,000 to 50,000. The first step in getting your vaccination appointment scheduled is to see if you're eligible to get it now. Who Can Get Vaccinated : As of March 1, the coronavirus vaccine is available to the following Dakota County residents: Residents aged 65 or olderHealth care workersLong term care residents and staffSchool staff membersChild care staff members at licensed and certified childcare programs Governor Tim Walz announced that the next phase of the vaccine roll-out will occur once 70 percent of seniors have received at least one dose of the vaccine. The next phase of the roll-out will likely include those with preexisting conditions, and essential workers. The vaccine is being administered at various healthcare providers and pharmacies. Where You Can Get Vaccinated: Hy-Vee in Eagan or LakevilleWalmart in Eagan or LakevilleResidents aged 65 or older who registered for the Community Vaccine Program will be notified by email, text, or phone call if they are randomly selected for an appointment at a community vaccination clinic.Health care workers will be notified by their local public health agency, employer, or community vaccination site when they are able to be vaccinatedLong-term care residents will be notified by staff when the vaccine becomes available to them.Long-term care staff will be notified by their employer when they can get vaccinatedEducators, school staff, and childcare workers will hear from their local public health agency, employer, or community vaccination site when they are able to be vaccinated.
