Alabama Coronavirus Hospitalizations At Lowest Point Since June

MONTGOMERY, AL — The Alabama Department of Public Health reported Monday that Alabama hospitals are currently treating fewer than 700 COVID-19 patients, bringing the total number of hospitalizations from the virus to the state's lowest total since June. The state reports 45,428 people have been hospitalized since March 13 of last year. As of March 1, there are currently 657 COVID-19 patients in hospitals. The state has reported 12,594 positive cases of COVID-19 in the last two weeks. The positive news comes as Alabama continues to increase its number of COVID-19 vaccinations. As of Monday, the state had administered 869,164 doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, with 272,494 people fully vaccinated. The ADPH reports that 1,326,345 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been delivered to Alabama. The single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available soon in Alabama which should also ramp up vaccination numbers in Alabama.
