If interested, please apply online at www.bakermfg.com/employment 1st Shift Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm 2nd Shift Monday - Thursday 3:00pm - 1:30am; Occasional Friday Tool Operator: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. • Maintains reliable attendance and adheres to set work schedules as outlined in the BAKER EMPLOYMENT POLICY manual • Lifts workpieces manually or using hoist, and positions and secures it to holding device such as machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures. Verifies workpiece position. • Positions and secures tool in toolholder (chuck, collect, or toolpost). • Moves controls to position tool and workpiece in relation to each other and to set feeds, speeds, and depth of cut. • Starts machine, turns handwheel to feed tool in workpiece or vice versa, and engages automatic feeding device. • Turns valve handle to start flow of coolant against tool and workpiece. • Observes operation and regulates tool position and action. • Verifies conformance of machine workpiece to specifications • Maintains and records accurate count of workpiece in good order, and wears all issued personal protective equipment in the workplace. • Practices safe work habits, keeps workplace in good order, and wears all required personal protective equipment in the workplace • Other duties may be assigned. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CNC Machine Operator: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. • Maintains reliable attendance and adheres to set work schedules as outlined in the BAKER EMPLOYMENT POLICY manual • Reviews setup sheet and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished work piece. • Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures work piece in fixture according to setup instructions. • Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine spindles as specified or inserts cutting tools in specified machine magazines. • Enters commands to retrieve pre-programmed machine instructions for data base. • Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine • Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools. • Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions. • Measures work piece for conformance to specifications. • Notifies supervisor of discrepancies • Machines materials other than metal such as composites, plastic, and rubber • Maintains and records accurate count of work pieces produced and personal hourly attendance data. • Practices safe work habits, maintains workplace in good order, and wears all issued personal protective equipment in the workplace. • Other duties may be assigned. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred previous one to two years of machine operating experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
