Description

Hi there! I'm looking for unwanted broken or damaged handmade items that need to be repaired. These objects can range from pots, vases, bowls, to china, or even figurines. I've recently got into the practice of Kintsugi after discovering that it is incredibly therapeutic & the philosophy of wabi sabi resonates with me on a deep level. Kintsugi, or kintsukuori, is the art of repairing broken or damaged items with gold (traditionally) resin, or other colors. It's supposed to represent the acceptance of scars or other damage as something that makes us more beautiful and have more character. I was hit by a car when I was a kid and have facial scars I haven't been proud of, among other mild complications of a head injury. It's taken me a long time to recover physically & mentally from the damages done. Now as I'm an adult, I've come to accept the experience & scars more for what they are: unchangeable moments in our lives that shape us into the people we are now. I used to work as a floor installer/repairer, but can't handle that kind of work anymore. I most loved repairing broken stone or tile flooring and making it look like there was never any damage. Now, I still find enjoyment in repairing items, and a bit of irony in emphasizing the damage instead of hiding it. :) Also looking to connect with others who might practice this art!
