Hiring!!! Feeder/farm worker/animal caregiver.... We need responsible, mature, dependable individuals that will properly care for the animals! We are willing to hire more than one, to avoid burnout and allow for shift changes. The animals on the farm are almost all miniatures. Located in Southern Suffolk by Franklin, ZIP Code 23437, please take this into consideration… Please! A couple would be considered, older generation appreciated. Must Haves!!!! Must be able to care for animals before all other factors like phones, friends, and what everyone else is doing. Must be on time. Time is flexible, but if you are expected to be on farm at a certain time, that is a definite. Must have a responsible attitude towards the fact that animals cannot care for themselves. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must have common sense. Must be flexible, as the lifestyle can change and vary from day to day. Duties!!!! Feeding, watering, and caring for 50+ farm animals. Moving feed, moving hay, emptying, cleaning, and filling water troughs. Visually inspecting animals on a multiple times per day basis. Physically inspecting animals at least once per week. Caring for small, caged critters. Knowledge of, or the ability to, deworm animals with instruction. Basic ability to treat minor medical problems if need arises. Being able to clean and disinfect animal environments. Capacity to deal with snakes. The ability to organize, compute, and understand how much feed is needed in order to never run out. Being capable of accepting instruction, even if you think you know everything about animals already. Much appreciated qualities are!!!! A drivers license. A strong respect for animals. A keen eye for detail, such as noticing something doesn’t look right. The ability to communicate with farm manager and farm owner. Flexibility.  NEED NOT APPLY!!!! Drug addicts. EVEN recovering ones if it is recent. Folks who need to bring multiple people to the farm with them. People who do not understand that this is our home. Anyone with a bad driving record. Dishonest people. Individuals that have their parents applying for them. People who think this is McDonald’s and if they don’t show up for work, somebody else will. That’s not how it works. Anyone who “ just loves animals” but has never cared for them or has never had any experience with them, and expects this is a job where they will cuddle and pet and love on animals for pay.. ************* For your information!!! Pay depends on the candidate. Pay is above minimum wage by at least a few dollars. We do expect a lot, but we reward and appreciate as well.
