SAD,VERY SAD Went to Bluefield Wva Yesterday downtown area on a Saturday pasted only ½ dozen cars If a film company was shooting an Apocalypse movie no need to build props it is ready made in downtown Bluefield West Virginia, Beautiful Buildings empty in need of repair, And I mean 14 and 15 story buildings,it broke my heart But this is true with all towns in Southern West Virginia Welsh, Yeager, Matoka why cant the city council pass an ordnance to lower tax rates and offer incentives to get the downtown thriving again or let it go and nature will reclaim it,I would start a program to have a national toy show or Car show or coin show,gun show and make Bluefield the place to come to to get what you need In Atlanta they have Scott's antique show and people come from all over the country to sell their products these people rent Motel rooms eat at restaurants and shop at stores bringing a windfall for the merchants and generating tax revenue I do Estate and Business liquidations and have about $50,000 worth of antiques and collectibles and desperately need a building for my retail operation, I plan in the next few weeks going to Virginia Wytheville of Roanoke or even as far as Hillsville,I suppose the fine folks in Bluefield have never heard of the Hillsville sale on labor day and Memorial day that brings in 500,000 people each named weekend, I would venture to say Bluefield has a lot more to offer
