Full time position available on a 7 acre private horse property in Petaluma. We are offering a great opportunity to work with friendly people in a beautiful setting with room to grow. Position includes horse and property care and maintenance, general landscape/gardening, fence building & maintenance, carpentry projects and handyman repairs. MUST BE reliable, positive, on-time, hard working, self-motivated, non-smoker, with a willingness to learn. Must have good English skills, at least 2-3 years experience working with horses or at a horse facility required, a clean driver’s license and must have own car/transportation. Must know how to use and maintain tools such as tractor, ride on mower, chain saw, weed whacker etc. Housing available in the future to the right candidate after trial. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: • Cleaning horse stalls, turnouts & paddocks • Feeding, blanketing, graining, turnout and handling horses • Grooming/bathing/clipping horses • Dragging arena • Keeping the barn and cross-tie areas clean • Mowing, weed whacking, tree trimming, pruning plants & pulling weeds • Cleaning water troughs • Building fences and maintaining fences • Pouring concrete • Building jumps • Installing & maintaining irrigation • Running errands • Sanding & Painting • Cleaning Gutters & Windows • Keeping the tools & tool shed clean & organized Qualifications/Requirements: • At least 2-3 years experience working with horses or at horse facility • Knowledge of safe work practices around horses & animals • Experience monitoring animal appearance/behavior • Strong communication skills • Must be 18 years or older, drug free and non-smoker • Must be ethical & honest • Must be reliable & punctual • Must have a positive attitude & be hard working • Must posess a willingness to learn • Must work effectively with minimal supervision & be self-motivated Physical requirements Include o Ability to work outdoors on uneven terrain in varying weather conditions with dust and allergens o Ability to twist, bend, kneel, climb and use hand tools as necessary o Ability to lift 80-100lbs o Safely operate Tractor, mower, chain saw, weed wacker etc. o Strong commitment to teamwork o Ability to adhere to policies, procedures and regulations o Ability to adapt to changes throughout the day o Ability to follow direction o Ability to have a professional attitude and professional appearance Salary based on skills & experience.
